Workshop Engineer
Workshop Engineer – Norwich
Position 1 Recruitment are working with an established engineering company in Norwich who are looking for an experienced Workshop Engineer to join their team.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect incoming pumps and related machinery, identifying faults and determining the appropriate repair or replacement solution.
- Dismantle, inspect and overhaul pumps, carrying out mechanical repairs and fault-finding as required.
- Rebuild completed units and conduct operational testing to confirm they are performing safely and correctly.
- Produce, modify and restore mechanical components to meet engineering requirements.
- Carry out machining and fabrication tasks using equipment such as centre lathes, milling machines, pillar/bench drills, grinders and specialist drilling equipment.
- Work alongside the Workshop Manager to develop and produce components for repair and replacement projects.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship while following technical specifications, company procedures and health and safety requirements.
Skills & Experience
- Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience.
- Previous experience working with pumps, including dismantling, refurbishment, repair and fault diagnosis.
- Strong mechanical engineering, fitting and machining abilities.
- A basic understanding of electrical systems and testing procedures.
- Confident interpreting engineering drawings, measurements and technical specifications.
- Good IT skills with a sound level of numeracy.
- Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A hands-on, methodical approach with strong attention to quality and detail.
