Mechanical and Electrical CAD – Design & Estimating Technician
In line with our clients continued success and growth, they are looking for a knowledgeable and detail-driven M&E Designer to join our CAD team. This role involves designing compliant and effective fire alarm systems that integrate with the building’s overall fire strategy and life safety infrastructure. The successful candidate will produce electrical schematics, layout drawings, and interface details, working closely with engineers, consultants, and project teams to deliver high-quality design solutions ensuring complaint to standards.

Key Responsibilities

· Design fire alarm systems in accordance with BS 5839-1 and other relevant standards.

· Produce electrical schematics, layout drawings, and interfacing details.

· Design water mist fire suppression systems in accordance with EN 14972.

· Perform hydraulic calculations and equipment selection to ensure system performance and compliance.

· Ensure designs align with the building’s fire strategy and integrate with other life safety systems.

· Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure design accuracy.

· Provide technical input during estimating and tendering processes.

· Stay up to date with fire prevention technologies, standards, and industry developments.

Skills & Experience

· Proven experience in fire alarm and fire suppression system design or similar life safety system roles.

· Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software; experience with Revit is desirable but not essential (training provided).

· Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical documentation.

· Effective communication and collaboration skills.

· Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Qualifications

· Relevant technical qualification in electrical and mechanical design, fire systems, or building services engineering.

· Certification or training in CAD design; familiarity with BIM is advantageous.

· Knowledge of BS 5839-1 and other applicable fire safety standards.

· Familiarity with EN 14972 (Water Mist) and EN 12845 (Sprinkler) standards.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £25,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
